Configure Telemetry Collector

To configure a Telemetry Collector, you will need to follow these steps, from within the Crosswork Assurance user interface:

  1. Access Telemetry Collector Creation by navigating to Sensors > Collectors > Telemetry collectors.

  2. Click the + button on the upper right to begin creating a new Telemetry Collector.
    The following window will open:

  3. Enter the required details in the New telemetry collector sidebar:

    1. Name: It is recommended to choose a name that will make it easy to correspond to the Sensor Collector.

      Naming Tip - Use the name that was chosen for the Sensor Collector, prefixed with TC for “telemetry_collector”. e.g. TC_IOS_XR_<server_name>_<tenant_name>.

    2. Telegraf configuration: Choose the option that matches your data source: Cisco-Telemetry-IOS-XE, Cisco-Telemetry-IOS-XR or “Custom” for any other source.

    3. Sensor Collector Data Address: Enter the Sensor Collector’s IP or FQDN for the data collector to connect to Cisco Crosswork Assurance.

      Tip: Do not use localhost or 127.0.0.1.

    4. Sensor Collector Data Port: Enter the Sensor Collector’s data collector connection port that the telemetry collector will use to connect to Cisco Crosswork Assurance.

    Note that choosing “Custom” as the Telegraf configuration provides a file picker for uploading the user’s custom telegraf.conf file:

  4. Click the checkmark () in the top right corner to save your configuration settings.
    Now you will be able to see the Name in your list of Telemetry collectors.

  5. Click on the Name of your Telemetry collector to see the Summary of your new Configuration, as shown below:


  6. Click the Generate auth token button so that the Telemetry Collector can authenticate itself on the first connection to Cisco Crosswork Assurance, you will also be able to copy the Agent secret (YAML), as shown below:

Now that your Telemetry Collector appears in the inventory list under Sensors > Collectors > Telemetry Collector, you can proceed with the deployment of your telemetry agents.
