Upgrading Firmware of Devices

This article explains how to upgrade the firmware of a single device in the Devices â–¶ Firmware page.

It is also possible to create a configuration job that can be used to upgrade the firmware on multiple devices at once. See "Setting Up a Firmware Upgrade Configuration Job".


***CAUTION**: Performing a firmware upgrade requires a reboot of the device. Rebooting momentarily interrupts traffic and operations.*

To upgrade the firmware of a single device

  1. Access the Devices â–¶ Firmware page.

  2. In the left pane, select the device whose firmware you want to upgrade.

  3. In the right pane, select the firmware version that you want to install on the device.

  4. Click the Upgrade firmware Button_UpgradeFirmware.png button.

  5. In the confirmation dialog, click OK to confirm and apply. A message indicates that the firmware was upgraded.

  6. Click OK.


***Note**: During the upgrade process, the previous version of the firmware (rollback version) is automatically saved and can be restored if necessary. See "Rolling Back Firmware on Devices".*

Upgrading Firmware of a Cisco Assurance Module

Legacy Orchestrator allows you to upgrade the firmware of a Cisco Assurance Module and Cisco Assurance SFP that is in the inventory of a Sensor Control.

Before it is possible to upgrade the firmware of a Cisco Assurance Module:

  • The Cisco Assurance Module must be loaded into Legacy Orchestrator. See "Loading the Inventory of Devices".
  • A Sensor Control firmware suite (includes the firmware for all Cisco Assurance Module and Cisco Assurance SFP modules) must be available on Legacy Orchestrator. See "Managing Device Firmware".

To upgrade the firmware of an Cisco Assurance Module

  1. Access the list of Cisco Assurance Modules by selecting Devices â–¶ Modules & SFPs.

  2. Click on the row corresponding to the module you wish to upgrade, this will open a side right pane.

  3. Check the Update feature suite box.

  4. Select an item in the Feature suite drop-down list.

  5. Click the Save button.
