Access the page **System ▶ Maintenance ▶ System Tools**. 2. Enter the host **IP address** and the **timeout** value, then click the **Ping IPv4** or **Ping IPv6** button. **▶ To trace a route to a remote host** 1. Access the page **System ▶ Maintenance ▶ System Tools**. 2. In the VCE Name drop-down list, select which VCE name to use to send traceroute. 3. Enter the host **IP address** and the maximum number of **Hops**, then click the **Traceroute IPv4** or **Traceroute IPv6** button. For more information on specific parameters, refer to the following two tables. **Ping (System ▶ Maintenance ▶ System Tools)** | Parameter | Description | | --- | --- | | VCE name | Name of the VCE interface that you want to ping. For more information about VCEs, refer to "About Virtual Connection Endpoints (VCEs)". | | IP address | The IP address that you want to ping. | | Timeout | The number of ping messages to send before timing out Acceptable values range from *1* to *10*. | | Ping IPv4 | Executes an IPv4 ping | | Ping IPv6 | Executes an IPv6 ping | | VCE name | Name of the VCE interface that you want to ping. For more information about VCEs, refer to "About Virtual Connection Endpoints (VCEs)". | | IP address | The IP address to traceroute. | | Hops | The number of hops to attempt. Acceptable values range from *1* to *30*. | | Traceroute IPv4 | Executes an IPv4 traceroute. | | Traceroute IPv6 | Executes an IPv6 traceroute. | **© 2026 Cisco and/or its affiliates.
